Next stop Sunshine State! But in San Augustine we felt like we are suddenly back in Central America - a fortress from the 16th Century and houses from the early Spanish conquistadores.
Driving through Florida we soon figured out that it was Off season and we felt also why - it was super hot but even more super humid. So we drove along the coast to catch a nice breeze from the ocean. And of course we checked the beautiful white beaches. What we also noticed that Florida is a state with many rich people as we saw a lot of huge villas and next to it a boat with at least the same value.
Coming from the famous beaches of Daytona and Palm Beach we were heading inland to look for a nice camp-spot in the Ocala forest. In the end we found one of our favorites places. We were the only ones arriving just before sunset and watching our first aligators swimming in the black water hunting for their bait under a sky full of stars.
After a short stop in Orlando we were heading to the next beaches - Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Miami is famous for Nightlife but we found also a great neighborhood full of art and that's for free.
Already quite far south there was still a part to see left, the Florida Keys.
We didn't know then that we will have there the worst night of our whole trip...
