Driving north on Texas highways we reached the one road you know for sure, the mother of all roads: Route 66. And though not everything looks old, we found some famous and some not so well known little gems of the old times. And reached Las Vegas? Yes, the one that was long there before in Las Vegas the first house was built. Walking along the main road with the old signs we felt a little like walking back in time.
Reaching the border to New Mexico we spontaneously changed our travel plans and drove first to Santa Fe. And we liked New Mexico from the beginning. It was desert but with canyons and the landscape changed so often. Looking for a place to build up our Camp-let, we found a big hotel chain who let us sleep for free and invited us for breakfast the next day ;)
Santa Fe is the highest state capital in the USA on 2100m. Surrounded by high desert and mountains with small Adobe houses it is a cute city. In a shop we were lucky and got the phone number of Jeb - a mechanic and a specialist in drones. He fixed the problem with our glow plugs and get us in contact with a friend from whom we finally got our new drone. He also invited us to stay at his place. From there we made day trips in the city and the Hide State Park, where we found some snow and met finally after 15 months the spring!
But as we will soon got visitors from home in Vegas, we hit the road again. Along our way we saw our first great canyons, we can't wait to see the bigger brothers, but first the Rocky Mountains are waiting for us...
