We heard so many good things about this country, that we were really exited to go there!
The border welcomed us with funny Halloween decoration. Coming from the south we drove through spectacular green canyons and all the houses having beautiful flowers in their gardens. And our first campground with swimming pool at a nice hostel was also not disappointing. Going on north we visited the colonial town Popayan which is also called the white city.
On our campground we met two other overlanders and visited with them a market where Guambianos indigenous meet to buy, sell and exchange their goods. And we left it with full bags.
But our third stop toped it all. Only going there was not so easy. We reached Salento, a village in the coffee region of Colombia, by driving the most bad, steep and crazy road of all the roads we drove before. And if this was not enough it was getting already dark. But we made it to the Hacienda and next day we were rewarded with a fantastic views over a wide valley!
And of course we didn't miss the Cocora Valley famous for the wax palms. It was really beautiful, although we were not lucky with the weather. We did a 5 hours hike and in the middle it starts to rain, so at the end we were soaken wet.
