Coming from Ecuadors capital city we were heading west to the coast stopping two days in Mindo, a very touristy village famous for birdwatching and surrounded by beautiful forests.

At the coast we found a nice hostel with camping in a small fishermen village directly at the beach. Where we had everyday fresh fish and big bonfires at the wide beach :)
We don't want to leave that place, but after a few days we went up north passing some more nice beach villages.

Our last stop in Ecuador was Ibarra. Driving from the coast over the Andes was really crazy as it felt like crossing several climate zones in a couple of hours. There we stopped at a nice Finca owned by a German overlooking a lake. Here we visited the famous handcraft market in Otavalo and had fantastic self made bread and marmalade and waffles ;)
