Chile is very famous for its observatories. Because in the desert you can see many stars as there is no light and air pollution and because of the high mountains.
So we really wanted to visit a observatory. But unfortunately it was very expensive. We explained it to the owner that we have unfortunately not the money for it, and he was so nice and says that he has only a small group tonight and we can join them we just have to come immediately with him. Of course we said yes and it was really great. He showed us stars, galaxies, nebulas and at the end we could made a picture from Saturn with just out smartphone. What a cool souvenir ;)
After the Elqui Valley we decided to drive up more north to a little fisher village called Bahia Inglesa. The way took us through no mans land with big sand dunes along the Chilean coast. When we arrived there we found a little paradise. The 135 inhabitants village has a few bars and restaurants and beautiful small bays with turquoise water. Looked like that we found the Caribbean in Chile. And the best thing was our camp ground: a long white beach just for us ;)
