After Chile's Wine state we reached the capital Santiago. Big cities are always good to get something fixed and this time we needed a drone store as the camera was not working right. We also needed to fill up the gas bottle for cooking.
While we were looking for gas we saw Goodyear right next to the road. As we needed new tires we just stopped there shortly to explain what we're doing. And after one day they called us back with good news that we get new tires for free, maybe.
After a few calls with dji in Hongkong we also could manage to get the drone fixed, what makes us very happy as we need the drone for our videos. That's the advantage of big cities but the disadvantage is that there are normally no campgrounds. As it was already late and we were in a good area of the city and found a quiet street, we slept in our car.
This worked out two nights very well. But in the third night, when we were just away for 3 hours for dinner, we came back and saw that someone has broken into our car. They stole many of our things and almost all our warmer clothes, as we live in our car and the Camp-let, we have of course all our belongings in it. But what hurt us most is the loss of Stefan's camera and the pictures on the memory card. We were lucky that our friends Daniel and Rosa from Brasil, where also in Santiago to that time, cause it is always good to have friends around when you don't feel good. They were staying with friends, who are journalists, and they contacted the Chilean TV and next day we had an interview with them.
So the break-in was a shock for us, but of course we will not give up. We found a good hostel where we can stay for the next week to get the broken window and the locks replaced. And we met so many great people in Chile and there was just these bad ones, that we will not leave Santiago with a bad taste in the mouth.
