On the way north our next aim was Pucon, famous for its nearby hot springs, National Parcs and volcanoes.
First night we arrived a little late and didn't find a campground so we camped just next to an Expedition Mobil from to other world travelers from Germany. On the next day we discovered the city and went to the first termas Los Pozones. Arriving late from there we didn't want to build up the camp-let on dirty ground again, so we decided to stay at a parking area in front of supermarket.
Next morning we got up early to do a little workout and were surprised that our tent was every a little dusty. We thought it was maybe from the volcano 30 km away from us we could see every night glowing.
After our run we decided to have a little sleep again as it was still dark. When we woke up and get out of the tent it was full of ash and though it was already 8:30 it was still dark and the ash rain was getting heavier. Locals then told us that it was not the volcano Villarica next to us, who erupted but the volcano Calbuco over 300 km away from us.
As it was still ash raining we build down the camp-let as fast as we could and drove in the city were we had breakfast in a little cafe. Before we did a little video of the city and our car with all the ash to share the impressions with our families and friends. Someone told us to send the video to orf, an Austrian tv channel and to some daily journals. And they wrote us back immediately and so Stefan gave an interview of our impressions via Skype and it was shown in Austrian News ;)
After all that we felt for something relaxing as we know the we still have to clean our car and the Camp-let from in and outside, because the ash got everywhere. So we spent one afternoon in the very nice termas Geometricas, which lays in a small canyon, sitting in the warm water and get some energy for next days. Next morning we drove to next big city Temuco. There we planned to get some things ready, like cleaning the car and the Camp-let, laundry and fix some parts at the car.
Knowing that Temuco has no campground we were thinking of building up our tent at gas station, what we did in the past a couple of times before as they have normally showers and Internet, we got invited to stay where we washed our car and the Camp-let in in the courtyard and made new friends showing us their city :)
