After Yellowstone we visited the smaller neighbor Grand Teton National Park.
Not far away we were lucky to meet two Austrians as the campground was already full. But they shared their campsite with us and we spent a nice evening in our Camp-let together :)
Crossing the States Prairie und corn states Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois, after long time driving we finally reached Chicago. We stopped a couple of times at the blue waters of Lake Michigan which really looked like an ocean. Our destination for today was then a campground at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. But before we got to this really beautiful place, we drove through Chicagos southern suburbs and the contrast couldn't have been bigger. Old industrial buildings, machinery and houses all abdoned with broken windows and hardly any people around. Later we heard that this was once an area where the rich people lived, but after the 70ies the economy went down, the rich people left, heroin and crack came and in the last years Gary became one of Americas city with the highest murder rate. People later told us at daytime it is okay to drive through but not at night. Arriving at our campground it changed again and everything was well maintained and Villas followed the shoreline. In America two different worlds often are often laying next to each other.
Next week we will visit one of the most popular waterfalls in the world and see Canada again!
