From the very hot south of Costa Rica, we were now driving north towards the cloud forest Monteverde.
What a big contrast. Driving up a good paved road it suddenly changed to a bad steep road with big holes. Arriving in Monteverde it was raining and very windy and cold. But there where also some sun, so we saw, what we later learned is kind of a normal in that area, the biggest and closet rainbow.
Our stop then was a nice B&B where we would also work and make a video for them. It was a really nice place but the best were the owners.
Carlos and his family were so friendly and so we spent some great days in their garden, where we built up our camp-let enjoying every morning the best breakfast we had on our whole trip. He also organized a night tour for us where we saw some tarantulas and snakes, and we also visited the Curi Cancha Reserve where we discovered the cloud forest and saw the famous quetzal and a lot of animals.
Then we were ready for the next mountains and you can guess...the hot springs.
The Arenal area is beautiful with a huge lake and if you are lucky you can see its majestic volcano. Our camp ground reminds us home, because it is a little village of some farm houses from a Swiss guy, from the cows to the music in the restaurant. And some others overlanders joined the place too, also with a Mercedes just a little bigger.
But our highlight were the hot springs. Tabacon is one of the best and most expansive spring in the world. But you can find free access to the same big river full of hot water surrounded by jungle and a lot of animals - life could be worse ;)
